Our Philanthropy

Phil Long's mission is to be a 100-year-old force for good. Since our doors first opened, our leadership and employees have been dedicated to helping others be the best they can be, from Glenwood Springs, Denver, Colorado Springs and Trinidad, Colorado to Raton, New Mexico. Because of the growing success of our dealership group, our past President and CEO Jay Cimino was able to create three nonprofits to better serve our communities. Additionally, we hold several giveback campaigns throughout the year.

Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center and Colorado's Military Community

Phil Long is deeply connected to the military, with both our founder Mr. Long and Jay having served our country. While in the U.S. Marine Corps, Jay's mother became ill. Through his struggle to receive the support he needed to be with her, Jay saw an opportunity to provide military members, veterans and their families access to critical resources. In 2016, Jay founded nonprofit Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center.

Mt. Carmel assists military members, veterans and their families with transition and employment, behavioral health and wellness, and family services. Led by Fort Carson's former garrison commander, Col. (Ret.) Robert McLaughlin, Mt. Carmel's team has proudly served nearly 21,000 clients across Colorado through 130,000 visits. Furthermore, Phil Long Dealerships holds an annual giveback campaign during Veterans and Military Families Appreciation Month, where a donation is made to Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center for every vehicle sold.

Mt. Carmel Wellness & Community Center and Sister Blandina Wellness Gardens

  

Driven to improve health outcomes in his hometown of Trinidad, Colorado and to give residents a local option for preventative care, Jay established Mt. Carmel Wellness & Community Center and Sister Blandina Wellness Gardens.

Led by Director of Operations Ashley DiPaola, Mt. Carmel Wellness & Community Center and its campus health partners provide residents of Las Animas County and rural Southern Colorado access to quality, affordable physical and dental care, as well as a variety of wellness programs for mind, body and spirit. Sister Blandina Wellness Gardens, named after Sister Blandina Segale, serves as an extension to Mt. Carmel's mission. This free, open to the public outdoor venue offers several activities including wellness walks, public and private events, and space for spiritual reflection.

United Way - Our Largest Employee Giving Campaign

 

Phil Long has been in partnership with Pikes Peak United Way and its sister chapters for over 50 years. Through corporate and employee donations, we have raised more than $3 million during our annual campaign.

12 Days of Giving

Every year during the 12 business days leading up to Christmas, Phil Long employees rally together to spread holiday cheer. Throughout this campaign, our team members can utilize paid Volunteer Time Off to make a difference in the community.

Breast Cancer Awareness

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we encourage our team to wear pink and attend the annual Legacy Race Battling Breast Cancer Walk.

Phil Long Community Fund

Established in 1991, The Phil Long Community Fund provided grants for nonprofits that sponsor activities and resources to champion the self-esteem and performance of youth in sports, education and recreation. It granted more than $2 million to youth organizations across the Front Range. Its signature project - with support from Mike Shanahan and the Denver Broncos Charities - was a series of playgrounds built across the Front Range between 1996 and 2012. A total of 12 playgrounds, two skate parks and a football field are still in use by families in Colorado Springs and Denver.

Wildfire Assistance

In 2012 and 2013, Colorado Springs experienced two of the deadliest and most expensive wildfires in Colorado history. The Waldo Canyon and Black Forest fires affected neighborhoods and families across the city.

At Phil Long, we wanted to help both our employees who lost homes or were evacuated and our neighbors who were fighting the fires. We created an employee emergency assistance hotline to provide help with money, shelter, pets and time off.

Secondly, Phil Long provided more than 30 trucks and cars to assist in fighting the fires. Our Ford and Chevy service departments and technicians were on call 24/7 to fix fire trucks and other emergency response vehicles during the fires. Phil Long employees also provided food, water and clothing to the community as needed.

When wildfires devastated Los Angeles in early 2025, we proudly contributed to Team Rubicon's LA Wildfire Relief effort to help victims recover.
